ROME (by Mediterranean Sea): Anzio Lavinio
Anzio is a historical town for many reasons: In recent times, the Allies landed on its shores during World War II, and the American Monumental War Cemetary is not to be missed. In ancient times, Emperor Nerone chose it as the site for the Complex of the Imperial Palace and the Roman Theatre. The Roman Port and the Grotto of Emperor Nerone represent two more salient features of the town. Anzio is located at the southern doorstep of Rome (25/30 minutes) and is the most important fishing port of Central Italy. Its Tourist Port bulges with yachts of every size, and daily ferry boats and hydrofoils embark hundreds of passengers and sail to the jewel islands of Ponza and Ventotene, also famous for their wonderful, protected marine park. Anzio has a most renowned water games park in Central Italy.

By daytime, the town lazily lies in the sun along its long, sandy beaches (both free or organised with parasols, sun beds, restaurants, snack bars and sea water swimming pools) and is an ideal sea life resort. At night, it shakes off its laziness and unveils the other side of the medal: Very lively night life, both on the streets of the Centre, and at the very many discos and night clubs. Hundreds of restaurants, pubs and genuine pizza houses are scattered all over town and along the sea shore, and offer exquisite Italian foods and wines, and day-fresh sea foods. Furthermore, Anzio is most popular among roman business men and women who work in Rome. Because it is so close to the Capital, businessmen find it easy to commute to work, and to return - at the end of each day - to relax and enjoy sea life, away from the smog and chaos of large cities.

ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE: Anzio offers many sporting activities: Golf - Wind Surf - Sailing - Swimming - Diving - Snorkling - Horse riding - Tennis - Ping Pong, cycling. Furthermore, when based in Anzio, Guests can comfortably undertake one or more day trips to visit medieval Viterbo and the Popes’ Palace, the Art Museums and the Archeological Sites of Rome, the Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel, the Colisseum , as well as the Art Cities of Florence, Pisa, Lucca and Siena (in Tuscany), Spoleto, Spello, Peruggia (in Umbria), Naples and the Island of Capri, the Vesuvian Volcano as well as Pompei,(in Campania) and the jewel towns of Ninfa and Sermoneta, the hundreds of fountains of Villa d’Este in Tivoli, and the Islands of Ponza and Ventotene with their splendid protected marine park. No wonder Anzio has become - over the last fourty years - a pole of attraction for both national and international sea-life lovers.
