against all kinds of pollution, as it represents the Capital’s main
drinking water reservoir. Lake Bracciano occupies an area of 57 km2,
is 160 meters deep and has a perimeter of 33 km. Furthermore,

cafés.They all offer a romantic atmosphere and exquisite Italian
foods and wines. To them, EATING IS AN ART.
Location and Cultural Activities
Due to its highly privileged geographical position, Trevignano
Romano has become, over the last twenty years, an extremely popular
holiday destination, and Italians as well as International

fascinating setting of natural beauty. Located on the shores of LAKE
BRACCIANO, away from the smog of large cities and equidistantly

(20 minutes), Trevignano is situated in the very heart of the
Protected Natural Park of Lake Bracciano, at the northern doorstep
or the Capital. The village’s medieval historic centre and its
Etruscan museum are the pride of the village. Long sunny beaches,
tall shady trees, gentle round-top hills and majestic Mount Rocca
Romana, cuddly frame the lake . The area’s sweet climate in every

typical fauna, the whole area of Lake Bracciano where Trevignano is
located, has been declared PROTECTED NATURAL PARK. Lake

for you to explore and savour.
Here you can enjoy the fascinating museums, the roman, renaissance
and baroque architecture, and lovely little “piazzas” and
honey-coloured “cupolas”. While wandering along Rome’s ancient,
narrow, winding streets, these all of a sudden open up and a lovely
“loggia”, a mysterious church, an imposing basilica or a luxurious
store come your way…
Attractions
Trevignano offers lovely and most recent movies at the local Cinema
– The villa’s well equipped Fitness Center offers relaxing and
beauty treatments, massage as well as a high quality hair dresser.
The local Etruscan Museum is located in the Town Hall and is well
worth a visit.
Around Trevignano: Must-see places
Lake Bracciano lies in the heart of “Tuscia”, at the outskirts
of Rome, a land where frenetic modern life is banned, and where the
relaxed rhythm of life is still dictated by century old farmers
traditions. In Tuscia, one can admire a unique monumental patrimony,
consisting of Etruscan necropolis, imposing castles, and mysterious
churches, that reveal the cultural and artistic evolution which took
place along the centuries in this rich land.
In Trevignano’s immediate vicinity, there are innumerable places
that should not be missed: Viterbo and its medieval
“Pellegrini Quarters” as well as its “Popes’ Palace”; Bracciano
and the medieval palace of Prince Odescalchi,; “Sutri” a
lovely Etruscan village, perched on the top of a tufa stone hill as
well as its lovely Golf Club; the little village of “Canale
Monterrano” and its Etruscan necropolis; charming, little “Calcata”,
the village of painters, where an international community of modern
painters live and exhibit their work; Farnese Palace, located in
lovely “Caprarola”; “Farfa” and its “Abbey of Santa
Maria”, one of the most important sanctuaries of the middle ages.
Furthermore, there is a lot of family fun places to visit and
savour: A day at the zoo in North Rome and a day at the Marine Zoo
in Torvaianica are thoroughly enjoyed by adults and children alike –
A walk in the “Parco del Treia” with a stop at the charming
waterfalls (which in winter solidify and become a real natural
sculpture) – Take the scenic drive to Lake Vico, follow the lovely
contour of the lake then proceed up to the mountain to enjoy
breathtaking views from a commanding position- These are only a few
of the places that should not be missed.
Moreover, when based in Trevignano, Tuscany (Florence, Pisa,
Siena etc..) and Umbria (Perugia, Spoleto, Spello, Assisi etc..)
are within easy reach, and can be comfortably explored and savoured
every time you wish.
Furthermore, the yearly Jazz Festival, the Festival of
Short Movies as well as Open Air Concerts summer
fireworks on the lake etc… are some
of the lively events organized in the lake area.
You may also wish to explore the village’s weekly flee market, where
you can find curiosities and hand made objects.
Sporting activities
Trevignano offers numerous sporting activities: Wind surf,
sailing, swimming, canoeing, horse riding, scuba diving classes,
tennis, ping-pong, cycling, trekking, lovely tracks designed for
walking in the surrounding green woods. Last but not least, two
lovely 18 holes Golf Clubs are available in the area (One at Sutri,
at 11 km from the Villa, and the other at Olgiata, at around 20 km
from Trevignano).
Wellness and Spas
The natural hot mineral water springs of “Saturnia SPA” and of
“Terme dei Papi” are ideal to spend a day just for yourself, and be
cuddled and massaged in a very relaxing atmosphere.
The lakes of Lazio
Lake Bracciano
The limpid waters of Lake Bracciano are abundant with fish. The lake
is very strictly protected against all kinds of pollution, as it
represents Rome’s main drinking water reservoir. The lake is
embraced by gentle hills and majestic mountains, and its shores are
lined with deep green, century old trees. Its long sunny beaches
offers many water sports (wind surf, swimming, fishing, sailing,
canoeing etc…) and innumerable excellent restaurants and open air
cafés are scattered along the shore. Here you can lazily lye in the
sun , or choose to swim or windsurf, or again opt for touring the
lake on board the Sabazia Boat, thus being able to admire, from a
different perspective, the Lake’s three medieval villages: Bracciano,
Anguillara and Trevignano Romano, this latter being the gem of the
area.
Lake VICO
Lake Vico is located in the crater of an ancient inactive
volcano, in the centre of a natural protected oasis which hosts a
great variety of eco- systems . The deep green mountains which
embrace the lake, are covered by century old oaks, beeches and
chestnut trees, joining branches overhead, and gently slope down to
the lake shores. The end result is a fascinating live painting of
rare beauty. River “Vicano” , originating from Lake Vico, smoothly
runs down from the lake towards River “Treja”, and is particularly
interesting as it is an artificial river, created by the Etruscans,
who excavated its course in tufa stone. Therefore the river runs
underground for about 100 meters, and surfaces beyond the hills. The
local flora, jealously protected and respected by man, confers an
added fascination on this blessed corner of Lazio. Here you can
enjoy trekking, hunting, bird watching, horse riding, swimming and
sailing, in total peace and tranquillity. And you can crown your day
by having a succulent meal at one of the lovely little restaurants
on the beach or along the lake shore.
Lake Martignano
Lake Martignano is immersed in a natural park, splendidly
secluded. Due to its isolation from the beaten tracks, the lake
almost represents a miracle of ecological integrity.
Lake Bolsena
This is the largest lake of volcanic origin in Europe. Here you
can enjoy enchanting boat tours on its limpid waters, and sail to
the secluded beaches of the Islands of Martana and Bisentina
